Anime/manga differences after the jump.

Differences from the Manga
(What's all this about?  Read here)
  • Yusuke’s fight with Miyuki is a lot longer in the anime.  In the manga he first rushes at her and feels her up, confirming that “she” is really a man.  He then instantly punches her out and explains things to Kuwabara.  In the anime Miyuki uses her hair as a noose to strangle him, and jumps up into the mansion’s rafters to hang him from there.  Yusuke jumps up too and punches her back down to the floor.  During all this time, Kuwabara saw Yusuke feel Miyuki’s breast and thinks he’s just being a pervert.  Once Yusuke subdues Miyuki with a bit more fighting, he tells her dirty little secret to Kuwabara and Botan.  Enraged, Miyuki attacks Yusuke again, but he throws her into the wall and she finally passes out.  Kuwabara considers checking to see if she’s really a man, but Botan stops him.
  • In the manga the second bet has a x3 return if you win, so Sakyo betting 20 billion yen means he gets 60 billion back if he wins.  In the anime the return is just x2, same as the first bet.
  • After the BBC discuss the gang’s victory over Miyuki, in the anime we get another Koenma and Jorge scene.  Jorge is jealous of all the delicious food Koenma gets to eat, so they bet his latest snack on Yusuke and co.’s victory (Jorge gets it if they win).  Later we see them cheering the gang on after they beat Inmaki.  Koenma tries to quit the bet, since it looks like he’ll lose.  Finally, after the two beat Gokumonki, Jorge discovers that Koenma has “accidentally” already eaten the snack.
  • After the first Koenma and Jorge scene is a brief manga scene of Kuwabara asking Yusuke what he would have done had Miyuki been a woman after all (expanded on in the anime because of Botan’s presence), we get another filler scene with Yukina in her room, then Hiei on his way to rescue her, remembering how he watched over her as a child.
  • In the manga Yusuke beats Inmaki by showering him with countless punches at Kuwabara’s signal.  In the anime he fires his Shotgun attack instead.
  • Yusuke and Kuwabara’s fight with Gokumonki is only a single one-panel page at the start of chapter 49 in the manga (they kick him, the end).  In the anime Gokumonki takes Botan hostage, so the pair has a little more trouble with him.  Eventually Botan gets free by lifting up her arms and dropping out from her jacket that Gokumonki’s holding, and the pair finally defeat him with the same two-person kick as in the manga.  In the anime this kick gets named “Shonen Jump” (“Boy Jump”), after the magazine which the YYH manga originally ran in.  A rare mistake in the subtitles for the Funimation DVDs instead calls it “Twin Jump”.
  • Sakyo’s final bet in the manga is 66 trillion, 200 billion yen on Yusuke and Kuwabara winning.  In the anime this is changed to 72 trillion, 350 billion yen.  In both cases this is said to be the same as the Japanese national budget.  The anime version did come out quite a while after the manga version, so maybe they felt the need to update the amount to the current national budget?
  • After Sakyo makes his insane bet, in the manga Tarukane wonders if he already knows the secret of the Hirui Stones (which turns out to be true), while in the anime he wonders if Sakyo knows some secret he doesn’t (also true).
  • In the manga Younger Toguro’s comment that he’s feeling more excited at the prospect of fighting Yusuke and Kuwabara than he’s felt in many years comes at the end of chapter 48, after they beat Inmaki.  In the anime it’s moved to after the pair defeat Gokumonki and Sakyo makes his huge bet.
  • As Kuwabara tries to concentrate his spiritual senses on contacting Yukina telepathically, in the manga it turns out he doesn’t even know her name yet (he ran out before it was mentioned in the video).  In the anime he knows her name and has said it a few times before.
  • Right between Yusuke and co. running down the stairs towards Yukina and the point where they pass the remains of Helen (the monster Toguro killed), there’s a brief filler scene where Hiei senses Yukina’s location, as well as the power of the Toguro Brothers.  There’s some really abrupt switches in the soundtrack as the scene changes to Hiei and back again.
  • Once Yusuke and co. reach the room where the Toguro Brothers are, there’s another Koenma and Jorge scene.  Koenma is frightened to see that the Toguro Brothers are there, and Jorge asks if he knows them.  Also, in the manga Kuwabara sees the BBC members and comments on the idle rich guys watching everything via TV.  In the anime this line is moved to the next episode.
  • The episode ends 11 pages into chapter 49, just before Yusuke and Kuwabara start fighting the Toguro Brothers.
